Smart Object back
You can convert a smart object back to a regular layer, either by converting it to its original layers or by rasterizing it. To convert to individual layers, right-click the smart object layer in the Layers panel and select "Convert to Layers". To rasterize it into a single, flattened layer, right-click the layer and choose "Rasterize Layer".
Option 1: Convert to layers (preserves original layers)
- This method is best if your smart object contains multiple layers, as it unpacks them into a new folder..
- Go to the Layers panel, select the smart object layer.
- Right-click the layer and choose Convert To Layers.
- The smart object will be replaced by a folder containing the individual layers, which you can now edit separately.
Option 2: Rasterize to a single layer (flattens the object)
- This method is best if you want to flatten the smart object into one pixel-based layer and lose any internal layer structure.
- In the Layers panel, right-click the smart object layer.
- Select Rasterize Layer.
- The smart object icon will disappear, and you will be able to use pixel-based tools like the clone stamp or healing brush directly on the layer.
